It's almost time to jet off at Hong Kong, only 8 days to go and I can't wait :) I will keep this blog updated hopefully more frequently with posts from my trip and experiences I have. I'm still going to post street portraits when I'm over there too provided I can get an internet card. For now I will add some photos I took a few weeks back of some street photos in Melbourne. If anyone has tips on cool places to visit when over there post a comment, I would love to know :) Take care Kylie
This is a blog about making portraits of people on the street and to show my street photography in between.

Mahesh
I finally have a new portrait to show, I finally finished that short film I was working on and most of my homework from Tafe for now anyway. I sorted my tickets for my holiday to Hong Kong too so no more excuses :)
So I sort of cheated although he was a stranger I didn't stumble upon him. I was asked a week before to shoot stills for a short film being shot Melbourne and I couldn't say no to this experience. Meet Mahesh he's an actor on the set of this film and I had to get a quick portrait before he went on set he was such a nice guy and very photogenic too. The day itself was fantastic and everyone was so friendly and helpful.
I took this with my Canon 50d and 100 f2 lens @3.5 for all of the camera nerds like myself :p

Long awaited post, sorry guy's
Hey if anyone's reading this I'm not dead, I'm sorry I have been away since the beginning of August. I had some stuff on my plate that I had to take care of including problems with my throat that I'm trying to manage now and heaps of assignments to name a few. I also have to make a short film which has been taking up most of the time sorting out the details and left me with not a lot of time to photograph for myself or this project. Excuses aside I should have some new Street portraits up within a few weeks. It's been so hectic at the moment with my schedule as I'm planning for a trip overseas to Hong Kong for a 2 weeks holiday in November. My awesome Cousin and his Partner have been very generous to let me stay with them for that time. I can't wait! Thanks so much guy's I appreciate it :)
There is so much to tell since the last post. I finally received my Mini Moo cards dedicated to this project/blog and they are sweet. I also have sneakily printed my other photography details on the back just in case they are interested in my services. Here are some images of the cards :)
I love the black and white combo. I finally bought a portrait lens for my Om-d too, so I can't wait to test it out it's so tiny and light. Anyway happy shooting to all. Till next time, Kylie

Portraits 7 and 8
I was still taking photos on top of the CH2 building in little Collins Street, Melbourne. A few minutes after taking Claudia and Simon's photo I spotted some fashionable guys walking towards the exit of the roof so I quickly interrupted them and asked if I could take their portrait. Thanks guy's you were great :)
Here is Stuart and Zack from Melbourne. I hope I got your names in order please let me know if I didn't.

Portraits 5 and 6
So I was lucky enough to have this weekend off to explore some wonderful buildings in Melbourne during the Open House Weekend. It's basically 1 weekend during the year that the city of Melbourne will invite people to explore it's many interesting buildings and can take photos too.
I ended up going both days because there was too much to explore in 1 day. One of the places I checked out was the Council House 2 (CH2). It had magnificent views of the city and cool architecture. Here I wasn't planing on getting portrait's but I couldn't help the light being just right and everyone was dressed up. I also was testing out my new Olympus OM-D and kit lens to see how it peformed. Anyway long story short I noticed this cute couple that were taking happy snaps of each other with their phone, so I approached them and asked. They were great about it and agreed. Meet Claudia and Simon.
By the way thank you so much for letting me take your portraits you were very kind and even held my heavy tripod I had so I could get the shot :) If you would like a copy I also have the shot with both of you just give me an email/message and I'll send you a copy.

Portrait 4
This was literally taken about 2 minutes after portrait 3. I was taking photos around the construction area of the art's center and these 4 lovely old ladies were laughing and walking towards me. They were dressed beautifully like they were going to a luncheon or high tea. So I quickly intercepted them and politely asked if I could take their photos. They said yes except they told me were kind of in a hurry to get to a charity event at the Royal Children's hospital. So I quickly took each of their photo's. Even one of the lady's jokingly asked if the photo would make her famous and if It would be on a billboard. We all laughed and I let them get to their very important charity event. Thanks so much ladies you were a delight to photograph. I'm only happy with the first portrait as my camera had focusing issues with the other ones.
