Portraits 7 and 8
I was still taking photos on top of the CH2 building in little Collins Street, Melbourne. A few minutes after taking Claudia and Simon's photo I spotted some fashionable guys walking towards the exit of the roof so I quickly interrupted them and asked if I could take their portrait. Thanks guy's you were great :)

Portraits 5 and 6
So I was lucky enough to have this weekend off to explore some wonderful buildings in Melbourne during the Open House Weekend. It's basically 1 weekend during the year that the city of Melbourne will invite people to explore it's many interesting buildings and can take photos too.
I ended up going both days because there was too much to explore in 1 day. One of the places I checked out was the Council House 2 (CH2). It had magnificent views of the city and cool architecture. Here I wasn't planing on getting portrait's but I couldn't help the light being just right and everyone was dressed up. I also was testing out my new Olympus OM-D and kit lens to see how it peformed. Anyway long story short I noticed this cute couple that were taking happy snaps of each other with their phone, so I approached them and asked. They were great about it and agreed. Meet Claudia and Simon.
By the way thank you so much for letting me take your portraits you were very kind and even held my heavy tripod I had so I could get the shot :) If you would like a copy I also have the shot with both of you just give me an email/message and I'll send you a copy.

Portrait 4
This was literally taken about 2 minutes after portrait 3. I was taking photos around the construction area of the art's center and these 4 lovely old ladies were laughing and walking towards me. They were dressed beautifully like they were going to a luncheon or high tea. So I quickly intercepted them and politely asked if I could take their photos. They said yes except they told me were kind of in a hurry to get to a charity event at the Royal Children's hospital. So I quickly took each of their photo's. Even one of the lady's jokingly asked if the photo would make her famous and if It would be on a billboard. We all laughed and I let them get to their very important charity event. Thanks so much ladies you were a delight to photograph. I'm only happy with the first portrait as my camera had focusing issues with the other ones.
Portrait 3
Sorry guy's I've been feeling a bit under the weather and still haven't
shaken this bug I received. I'm a few days late in posting but I managed
to get 2 portrait's that I like. Portrait 3 I came across when I was
walking past the Arts Center in Melbourne. As soon as I came around the
corner I knew I had to ask. The man stood out with his elaborately
coloured hair and lime green jacket . He was very polite and said yes. I
didn't get a chance to ask him where he was headed as he looked like
he was in a hurry, so I thanked him and walked on. Still trying to find my style taking these portraits. I'm not sure if I want environmental or head shots but I figure that will come with time.

Meet Alfred and John
My very first portraits for this project portrait no 1 and 2. I was walking around Fed
square in Melbourne doing some street photography this week and noticed these cool
young dudes hanging out possibly waiting for someone. So I thought these
guy's would be perfect so I walked over to them and introduced myself
and told them about the project. They didn't mind at all which was
great! The boys were telling me that they were from Adelaide on holidays
and were Uni students one of them studying to be a Medic. I thanked
them after taking their portraits and handed them a card if they were
curious to see. Thanks so much guy's you were great and if you would
like a copy give me an email and I'll send you one. So without further
ado, here they are.
First Post YAY!
I'm Insane
Hi everyone thanks for visiting my blog 500 Street. My name's Kylie and I'm studying photography in Melbourne, Australia. I have decided to create this blog to help me overcome the fear of taking photos of strangers. This will better my skills with taking portraits of people. I would love to reach my goal of 500 portraits eventually hence 500 in the blog name
This could take quite a while but I believe I can do it, among my studies. My other interest is Street photography which I only just got into 3 months ago. So as well as making portrait's of people I will also be posting some street images in between. Thanks for stopping by,
Kylie :)
